The Andrade Law Offices Scholarship Program is designed to help high school seniors and college students better afford college. Education is a vital foundation for creating fulfilling, advantageous careers. We are proud and excited to help students achieve their goals of furthering their education.

Andrade Law Offices is on a mission to encourage teen safety. We can’t do this alone. We need the firsthand perspective of those who understand the social dynamics in local high schools and colleges. In exchange for scholarship money, we would like to have your perspective on some of the challenges facing our youth today.

Santa Barbara Scholarship

To apply for the Andrade Law Offices Scholarship submit a:

  • One-page essay of no less than 500 and no more than 750 words.

Topic:

  • Societal Impacts – Discuss the dangers that peer influences have on ones ability to know when they have had enough. How do our peers, surroundings, and other environmental surroundings have an effect on our ability to make healthy decisions after consuming alcoholic beverages?

ELIGIBILITY

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent U.S. resident.
  • Be accepted to or already enrolled at an institution of higher learning.
  • Be graduating high school or receiving GED within 9 months.
  • Employees of Andrade Law Offices, Consultwebs.com, Inc., their boards of directors and immediate family members are not eligible for this essay contest.

REQUIREMENTS

The following documents must be provided for consideration (.doc, .docx, .pdf format only) to the attention of Kathleen Andrade via email only to Andradelawscholarship@gmail.com.

  • An official copy of a current academic transcript.
  • Proof of legal residency in U.S. (i.e. birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, permanent resident card, etc.).
  • Proof of acceptance or enrollment to an institution of higher learning.

AWARDS

One applicant will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for first prize, one applicant will be awarded $500 for runner-up, and one applicant will be awarded $250 for third place. Scholarship award recipients will be notified of the selection on or before May 15, 2016.The Scholarship is to be used exclusively for tuition at an institution of higher learning and related expenses such as books, supplies, etc. An award check will be made payable to the award recipient’s school and/or supplier of books, supplies, etc. to cover these expenses. Award winners are expected to submit receipts in accordance with IRS regulations.

The winners will be selected by Andrade Law Offices and published on our site.

HOW TO APPLY

There is no submission packet for this scholarship. All information can be found on this page.Please include the following, in addition to the requirements set forth above:

  • Include your full name, email address, mailing address and phone number at the top of your essay. This will be the information that we use to contact you if your essay is selected as the winner, but will not be shared with the public if you become a finalist.  If you are one of the 3 winners, your name and image will be shared with the public.
  • Please include 1-2 sentences about yourself. (What school, college or university you attend or plan to attend and your plans for the future, and what school you are attending now.)

Please DO NOT include:

  • Letters of recommendation, tax returns, resumes, bank statements or any other materials not mentioned above.
  • Please DO NOT call the law firm asking where to send your essay.

TIPS FOR THE ESSAY

Be original. Do not re-write what others have written or plagiarize. It is grounds for immediate disqualification.Research the subject. This is an issue rich with opportunity for creative and persuasive writing.

We place no value on your specific political or religious beliefs, although you are free to include some politics and/or religion in your essay, within context, if you believe it to be necessary.

All entries submitted to Andrade Law Offices in connection with this contest, along with all copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights associated therewith, become the property of the Andrade Law Offices upon submission.Entry materials will not be returned to any entrant. By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that if you win the scholarship contest, the Andrade Law Offices will own all rights to publish and promote the submission.

All entrants agree that they consent to the use of their name and area of residence, as well to the use of their likeness (as in a photograph) and prize information.
